The beginning of the pandemic came unexpectedly and created many challenges and difficulties for the entire population. However, it hindered the progress for many children who suffer from mental health disparities. The first wave of COVID-19 caused a forcible shutdown for many social service agencies and schools. It was reported many have experienced disproportionately worse mental health outcomes, increased substance use, and elevated suicidal ideation since the pandemic. Due to the increase of services needed there is a possibility many agencies may be at capacity and clients are being placed on waiting lists.
